In December 2007 Pago invited universities to join a design competition with the aim to “recycle” the old PET bottles.
The challenge for the design universities was, to create new, inspiring and outstanding ideas, making use of PET bottles. The creative ideas from the students should not be limited, except of the fact that they should be in line with the Pago brand positioning. In addition the intention was to find solutions which could be used for sampling or sponsoring activities and also implement the proposal to fairs or events. The designs can also be adjustable for outdoor-use, or even become a “cult” design tool.
In May 2008 Pago selected the most innovative proposals. Two product design students, David Pompa (Mexico) and Ferran Lajara (Spain), from the Kingston University London, convinced the jury with their theme “You can’t just drink Pago, you have to enjoy Pago” and their innovative thoughts about Pago as a brand in combination with the PET bottles.
